We need to increase quality life years so that we live to an older age with a faster exit into the great beyond. We will all die of one of the leading causes. By changing the way we view health outcomes can we develop a metric such as “active, dignified and healthy until 99 years and 9 months, then died In a month”, rather than “sedentary, reliant on others and generally unhealthy/in pain and uncomfortable at age 65 but lived for another ten years?”.

While there are external factors that influence our lives, we are substantially responsible for what we think, what we accept into our deliberations and on what we put our attention.
If you know your basic purpose in life and think of ways to align your activities with your basic purpose, producing products that are needed and wanted by others then you are far more likely to have a happy, productive, satisfying and successful life.

No, ignorance is not bliss, And Schopenhauer was wrong. It must depend greatly on what you know because if you know WHY people do the crazy things they do then you are far less dismayed by them. If you also know HOW to make them sane then you are at cause, not at effect and far more likely to be happy.
