Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a major lawsuit against pharmaceutical titan Pfizer and its chief executive officer, Albert Bourla, alleging the company deceptively marketed its COVID-19 mRNA vaccine while concealing severe health risks from the public.
The legal action accuses Pfizer of running an aggressive marketing campaign that Uthmeier says was backed by roughly $10 billion in advertising and generated over $80 billion in revenue while withholding crucial information on adverse reactions.
“Pfizer told Florida families that mass vaccination with their mRNA COVID vaccine was necessary to stop the spread, and that there were no material safety risks,” Uthmeier said, accusing Bourla of claiming that unvaccinated people put loved ones in jeopardy while dismissing critics.
The suit contends Pfizer misled consumers regarding the shot’s safety profile, specifically pointing to documented cases of myocarditis in teenagers and young adults, cardiovascular complications, strokes, and alleged risks to pregnant women.
“What they didn’t say that they knew about [was] myocarditis in teenagers and young adults,” Uthmeier stated. “They had reason to know the shot posed risks to pregnant women and unborn babies in the first trimester.”
The filing highlights recent revelations from U.S. Senators Rand Paul and Ron Johnson, who exposed communications involving federal health officials—including Dr. Anthony Fauci—acknowledging that the second dose theoretically carried risks of early-term miscarriages. Despite internal awareness, federal agencies like the CDC and the Surgeon General continued telling the public the vaccine was entirely safe for expectant mothers.
Florida prosecutors also charged that Pfizer aggressively promoted the shots as a way to interrupt virus transmission despite failing to conduct clinical trials proving the vaccine prevented transmission before rushing it to market.
“What they did was wrong. They assumed Florida families could not be trusted with the truth,” Uthmeier declared. “My office will hold them accountable.”
Pfizer, according to the lawsuit, urged people to get the shot to protect others, even though the company never tested whether the vaccine stopped the virus from spreading.
