Published in the BMJ the study found those who consumed less than 26% of their calories from carbs achieved greater weight loss and rates of type 2 diabetes remission than those who followed other diets traditionally recommended for managing diabetes.
It was the first systematic review to examine the safety and efficacy of low-carb diets in adults and to assess the remission rates of type 2 diabetes.
