After a CHOICE investigation found that Thermomix’s TM31 model had a faulty sealing ring which would allow hot liquids to splash out, the ACCC stepped in and took the company to court. Thermomix continued to market the appliance as safe even though they knew it was responsible for 35 serious injuries (including scalding and burns). Thermomix also used deny and delay tactics to avoid giving refunds and in some cases demanded customers return the machine or take the company to court. Whew.
