CROWS ARE TWICE AS FAST AS HUMANS AT MAKING DECISIONS!
We call them “birdbrains,” but science suggests we owe crows an apology.
Researchers at the University of Tübingen in Germany tested two carrion crows using a cognitive task also given to humans and monkeys.
The results were remarkable.
The crows made decisions in just 235 milliseconds, roughly twice as fast as humans. Their brains processed visual information in only 70 milliseconds, while maintaining accuracy comparable to humans and monkeys.
Scientists believe this incredible speed may be linked to their lives in the air, where split-second reactions help them dodge obstacles, escape predators, and navigate complex surroundings.
So perhaps crows aren’t the ones with birdbrains.
Maybe it’s time we rethink what that word really means!
