Reminds me of a line from the Eagles’ song Hotel California, “This could be Heaven or this could be Hell.”

Don’t Buy It!

As I argue at length in my book Climate: A New Story, the environmental movement as a whole seriously misapprehends the nature of the present ecological crisis. The biggest threat is not CO2-induced warming—that is merely the most convenient threat, the one that facilitates technocratic and financialized solutions. The biggest threat is the reduction and destruction of ecosystems: soil, oceans forests, wetlands, and so on, at all scales. Overfishing, deforestation, mining, tree farms, industrial agriculture, toxic pollution, draining wetlands, coastal development, urbanization, and electromagnetic pollution degrade the living organs of our living Earth, rendering her unable to maintain balance.

In a landmark victory, the High Court has ruled in favour of a group of Police officers and Defence Force members who applied for a judicial review of the government vaccine mandates imposed on them.
Because of the vaccine mandate imposed upon them, more than 100 uniformed professionals were due to be dismissed from March 1, 2022.
However, the High Court has ruled that the mandate was, in fact, unlawful.
The following was provided in a statement to The Daily Examiner:
“The Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety said that he had made the mandate to ensure continuity of services provided by the NZDF and Police, but there was evidence that he had been told by public health experts that there was no requirement for a vaccine mandate on public health grounds.
The Court agreed that the mandate imposed on members of Police and NZDF limited their rights, and that the government had not demonstrated that this limitation was justified in a free democratic society.”
Keeping people safe is what drives the members of Police and NZDF that challenged this mandate. However, the way that the mandate was imposed by the government is unjustified. It applied to everyone, including people who were working from home, and those who had genuine personal reasons to decline the vaccine.
The vaccine mandate is wrong. It does not allow consideration of exceptional individual circumstances. The Vaccine Order does not allow other ways to keep people safe, for example, regular testing or working from home.
This case is not about being “anti-vaccine”. The police officers and NZDF members who challenged this mandate care about the health of all New Zealanders. By making the vaccine mandate in the way that they have, this government has turned what should be a health issue into an issue of fundamental human rights.
Matt King, former National Party MP and Police Officer spoke to The Daily Examiner:
“This is a massive day for us and a massive day for New Zealand. This has set a precedent for all other workforces and strengthens the cases against vaccine mandates across all sectors. Now that this mandate has been ruled unlawful, the effects of it will be reversed, and those NZDF and Police personnel who lost their jobs will now be able to return to work.”
The Daily Examiner also spoke to one of the applicants, Detective Senior Sergeant Ryan Yardley. He said that he was ecstatic, not just for himself, but for the 100+ police staff who were affected by the mandate, as well as equal numbers in the NZDF. Mr. Yardley said that although at times it seemed the success of the case would be ‘touch and go’, the applicants had a strong, clear legal case, and this result has shown that the judiciary system is independent as it is meant to be. He said that from day one of police college, new recruits are taught about personal rights, and this was what this case was all about. He himself lost his job as a result of the mandates, but expects to return to work soon.
I had a dream the other night I didn’t understand,
A figure walking through the mist, with flintlock in his hand.
His clothes were torn and dirty, as he stood there by my bed,
He took off his three-cornered hat, and speaking low he said:
“We fought a revolution to secure our liberty,
We wrote the Constitution, as a shield from tyranny.
For future generations, this legacy we gave,
In this, the land of the free and home of the brave.
The freedom we secured for you, we hoped you’d always keep,
But tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep,
Your freedom gone, your courage lost, you’re no more than a slave,
In this, the land of the free and the home of the brave.
You buy permits to travel, and permits to own a gun,
Permits to start a business, or to build a place for one.
On land you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent,
Although you have no voice in choosing how the money’s spent.
Your children must attend a school that doesn’t educate,
Your moral values can’t be taught, according to the state.
You read about current “news” in a very biased press,
You pay a tax you do not owe, to please the IRS.
Your money is no longer made of silver or of gold,
You trade your wealth for paper, so like can be controlled.
You pay for crimes that make our Nation turn from God to shame,
You’ve taken Satan’s number, as you’ve traded in your name.
You’ve given government control to those who do you harm.
So they can padlock churches, and steal the family farm.
And keep our country deep in debt, put men of God in jail,
Harass your fellow countryman while corrupted courts prevail.
Your public servants don’t uphold the solemn oath they’re sworn,
Your daughters visit doctors so children won’t be born.
Your leaders ship artillery and guns to foreign shores,
And send your sons to slaughter, fighting other people’s wars.
Can you regain your Freedom for which we fought and died?
Or don’t you have the courage, or the faith to stand with pride?
Are there no more values for which you’ll fight to save?
Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave?
Sons of the Republic arise and take a stand!
Defend the Constitution, the Supreme law of the land!
Preserve our Republic and each God-given right!
And pray to God to keep the torch of freedom burning bright!”
As I awoke he vanished, in the mist from whence he came,
His words were true, we are not free, and we have ourselves to blame.
For even now as tyrants trample each God-given right,
We only watch and tremble, too afraid to stand and fight.
If he stood by your bedside in a dream while you’re asleep,
And wonder what remains of your right he fought to keep.
What would be your answer if he called out from the grave?
“Is this still the land of the free and home of the brave?”
Thelen Paulk, 1986
“Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, War. He is the only one that gathers his brethren about him and goes forth in cold blood and calm pulse to exterminate his kind. He is the only animal that for sordid wages will march out…and help to slaughter strangers of his own species who have done him no harm and with whom he has no quarrel…And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for ‘the universal brotherhood of man’–with his mouth.” – Mark Twain

“When pregnant, the cells of the baby migrate into the mothers bloodstream and then circle back into the baby, it’s called “fetal-maternal microchimerism”.
For 41 weeks, the cells circulate and merge backwards and forwards, and after the baby is born, many of these cells stay in the mother’s body, leaving a permanent imprint in the mothers tissues, bones, brain, and skin, and often stay there for decades. Every single child a mother has afterwards will leave a similar imprint on her body, too.
Even if a pregnancy doesn’t go to full term or if you have an abortion, these cells still migrate into your bloodstream.
Research has shown that if a mother’s heart is injured, fetal cells will rush to the site of the injury and change into different types of cells that specialize in mending the heart.
The baby helps repair the mother, while the mother builds the baby.
How cool is that?
This is often why certain illnesses vanish while pregnant.
It’s incredible how mothers bodies protect the baby at all costs, and the baby protects & rebuilds the mother back – so that the baby can develop safely and survive.
Think about crazy cravings for a moment. What was the mother deficient in that the baby made them crave?
Studies have also shown cells from a fetus in a mothers brain 18 years after she gave birth. How amazing is that?”
If you’re a mom you know how you can intuitively feel your child even when they are not there. Well, now there is scientific proof that moms carry them for years and years even after they have given birth to them.
I find this to be so very beautiful.
