Sitting Is Deadly – But Frequently Standing Up Reduces The Risk

Sitting for extended periods of time is an independent risk factor for poor health and premature death. Even if you are very fit, if you uninterruptedly sit for a great percentage of the time, you’re still at an increased risk of dying prematurely.
Research by the NASA scientist responsible for monitoring the astronauts, shows your body declines rapidly when sitting for long periods.
Simply standing up over 30 times a day is a powerful antidote to long periods of sitting and is more effective than walking.
There are virtually unlimited opportunities for movement throughout the day, from doing housework or gardening, to cooking and even just standing up every 10 minutes.
It’s not how many hours of sitting that’s bad for you; it’s how often you interrupt that sitting that is GOOD for you.

Please read the article, there is a lot more great data in it! And if you are one of the very few who actually IMPLEMENT some of the techniques I share, this will save you 10 seconds of searching, a timer you can run in the background to beep every 10 minutes to remind you to get out of the chair for a second! http://timer.onlineclock.net/ I started using it last night.

Governments Want To Educate Children

For the future of us all, take more than a passing interest in your child’s education. Teach them to think for themselves. It requires a certain courage of a parent to work towards having your children make their own decisions, even though they be contrary to the ones you would like they made.
But the end result is a responsible, capable free being. Not a robot.
If you do not have the time or inclination to home school, check out the Athena School in Newtown. My three started there. My two grandkids are there. So yours would be in good company 🙂

Marijuana

Living the healthiest life does not include reducing your awareness or covering your emotional or physical pain with drugs.
A friend just posted:
Finally finished the text for an educational manual for parents on marijuana. Hard to express how distressed I am. I have become much more aware of how much damaging information about the drug is being suppressed by the pro-legalization/medicalization lobbyists. The only saving grace is that so many parents know in their hearts that something is wrong somewhere. I intend to arm them so they know what to do.
My research indicates that parents are a big part of this problem because they are using it themselves or don’t really know how to deal with it or don’t know what the facts are. Hence, a lot of work on my part of deal with their unknowing need for knowledge. Like this beginning effort: http://www.narconon.org/drug-abuse/marijuana-facts.html
