Cellular starvation kills treatment-resistant breast cancer
Cancer rewires the metabolism of tumor cells, converting them into lean, mean, replicating machines. But like Olympic athletes who rely on special diets to perform, tumor cells’ amped-up metabolism can also make them dependent on specific nutrients for survival. For years, scientists have been trying to identify and understand these cellular cravings in hopes of creating new cancer treatments that work by blocking off access to necessary nutrients and starving tumors to death. In a new study, Duke University scientists report that cells from a vicious and treatment-resistant form of breast cancer, called triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), die off rapidly when deprived of a key nutrient called cystine. By examining the cause of cell death, they found that this “cystine addiction” is triggered by a mechanism that many kinds of tumor cells use to break away and migrate to new locations in the body. “This process is well-known and shows up in metastatic cancer cells, and what we found is that it also makes the cells cystine-addicted,” said Jen-Tsan Ashley Chi, associate professor of molecular genetics and microbiology at the Duke University School of Medicine and senior author on the study. “This is great news, because these are the cells that we really want to get rid of.”?

This is a true David vs Goliath story – a vindictive government, enraged after a poor election performance, using the enormous legal resources at their disposal to intimidate everyday Australians into silence.
Grandpa Mark’s story is breaking across the news media right now2 – but in order to shine a light on their bullying behaviour, we need to help make it huge. This is a new low for a government who is earning quite the reputation for strong-arming its critics – from Gillian Triggs of the Human Rights Commission to Solicitor General Justin Gleeson.3,4
But Mark believes the public have the right to know the truth on Medicare, which is why he’s refusing to take his website down.
He’s been working hard since 2014 to get the word out on the impacts of the Turnbull government’s freeze to the Medicare rebate, $650 million in cuts to pathology and radiology rebates, and the controversial decision to set up a taskforce to privatise Medicare’s billing system.
With government lawyers breathing down Mark’s neck, he needs a huge wave of people power to swoop in behind him – so that he can stand strong against the government’s legal threats.

The Toxic Science of Flu Vaccines

Joshua Hadfield was a normal, healthy developing child as a toddler. Research indicates that it was associated with a 1400% increase in narcolepsy risk. More recently, a team of Finnish scientists at Finland’s National Institute for Health and Welfare, recorded 800 cases of narcolepsy associated with this vaccine. Vaccine ingredients other than the engineered viral antigen are most often believed to be the primary culprits to adverse vaccine reactions. The Finnish research, on the other hand, indicated that the vaccine’s altered viral nucleotide likely contributed to the sudden rise in sleeping sickness.[2]
Although Pandermrix was pulled from the market, it should never have been approved and released in the first place.
