Resistance

Never Change By Fighting

Some time ago I listened to a fascinating lecture on resisting. What I got from it is that when you resist something you put up a barrier (spiritual, mental, energy or mass) between you and that which you are resisting.

That which you are resisting flows particles at you. Those particles hit the barrier you have created. Particles building up on one side of the barrier create a vacuum on the opposite side of the barrier.

When you resist and fail you get sucked into the vacuum and become that which you were resisting.

That is one mechanism of how people “flip” from good to bad. They become that which they fought.

So the key is to not resist that which you do not want but to flow energy towards that which you DO want.

Which is why the most aware people will always conclude a presentation by giving you things you CAN do towards creating a more desirable future outcome.

Buckminster Fuller summarised it so well when he said: “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”

The Donkey In The Well

The Donkey In The Well

One day a farmer’s donkey fell into a well. The animal cried loudly for hours, while the farmer tried to find something to do to get him out.

Finally, the farmer decided that the donkey was old and the well was already dry and needed to be covered anyway; that it really wasn’t worth pulling the donkey out of the well.

He invited all his neighbors to come help him. They each grabbed a shovel and began to throw dirt into the well.

The donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly loud. Then, to everyone’s surprise, he quieted down after a few shovelfuls of dirt.

The farmer finally looked down into the well and was amazed at what he saw… …with each shovelful of dirt, the donkey was doing something incredible: It was shaking off the dirt and stepping on top of the dirt.

Very soon everyone saw surprised how the donkey reached the mouth of the well, went over the edge and trotted out.

Life is going to throw dirt at you, all kinds of dirt… the trick to getting out of the hole is to shake it off and use it to step up. Each of our problems is a step up. We can get out of the deepest holes if we don’t give up…
Use the land they throw you to get ahead!!!

Remember the 5 rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hate.
2. Free your Mind of distractions.
3. Simplify your life.
4. Give more and expect less.
5. Love more and… shake the dirt, because in this life you have to be a solution, not the problem!

(Tom: Or, if you like it even simpler, the two rules for happy living are stated and explained here: https://www.livinginwellbeing.org/what-are-the-two-rules-for-happy-living/)

A Wake Up Call From A Teacher

Male Teacher

Yesterday, I shut down class about 5 minutes early and told my students I wanted them to just sit and talk to one another. Several of them immediately opened their laptops and began navigating to their favorite computer game.
I said, “No, no laptops. I want you to have face-to-face conversations right now.”
After a collective groan went up, I observed something both wonderful and alarming. For the next few minutes, a couple of tables came alive with conversation. They looked at each other in the eyes and talked with great enthusiasm and interest. It was beautiful to watch and listen to.
However, many students were deflated. They did not know what to do without some sort of entertainment from a device. A couple of them put their heads down and avoided eye contact with anyone. I went around the room to those students and tried to engage with them. Some of them mustered a few words, but most didn’t know what to do.
I share this story as a wake up call for parents, grandparents, and guardians. It’s tragic to me that a large percentage of today’s youth do not know how to have real conversation, but it’s not their fault. It is our responsibility as adults to lead by example and hold our kids accountable. Unplug every day, talk, and listen to your children. Getting lost in a device does not help them cope with and overcome the things they’re going through mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. All it causes is isolation and depression. They need relationships; they need you.
I plan on doing it again today.

RFK jr On Fox Firing Tucker

Tucker defined good and evil:

“Good is characterized by order, calmness — tranquility, peace, whatever you want to call it — lack of conflict, cleanliness. Cleanliness IS next to Godliness. It’s true, it is. And Evil is characterized by their opposite. Violence, hate, disorder, division, disorganization, and filth. So, if you are all in on the things that produce the latter basket of outcomes, what you’re really advocating for is Evil. It’s true… I’m not making a partisan point, at all. I’m just noting what’s super-obvious.”
