From what I am reading things are about to get a whole lot tougher even than they are already for a lot of people. Here is something I have thought of that provides a specific path to increased competence.

So whenever a news item, article, meme, picture or conversation tempts to or leaves you feeling less rather than more affinity for a group of people, recognize that it will also result in you being less in communication with that group, less able to influence them in a positive direction.
