Do You Prefer To Sweat Or Bleed?
Prediction, Practice, Competence and Professionalism
Apparently there is a saying in some branches of the armed services:
“The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in combat.”
This concept is easily translatable to other areas. It is based on the ability to predict the consequences of actions. The understanding that the first time you do something is a learning experience. That only by doing something over and over do you get really good at it.
Some (most?) people do not get this. They operate on the basis of giving things “a lick and a promise”. If you are not familiar with the phrase, it means, “A cursory effort, for instance at painting or tidying up. It alludes to the perfunctory washing performed by children.”
In software (and probably many other areas as well) there is a caution against it:
“There is never enough time to do it right…
but…
there is always enough time to do it again.”
And therein lies the mark of a true professional. A true professional is one who accurately predicts that in order to obtain a high level of competence he is going to need to devote time to learn, practice and drill the actions of his job. He disciplines himself to continue to practice and hone his skills, learning all he can and drilling the basic actions of his job until those actions are done to an incredibly high level of skill, thereby producing top quality products.
I read some time ago that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become world class at something. Doesn’t matter if it’s sport (tennis, football, swimming, athletics), arts (singing, painting, acting), or a trade.
Just as an aside, if the thought of doing that in your current profession leaves you down in the mouth or you are only to eager to leave work and forget all about it until the next day, then may I suggest you may be in the wrong profession?
And that opens the door to another very good question that might help someone to work out what their basic purpose is in life and what profession may better suit their talents and personality. For as Confucius is alleged to have said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
If you are going to practice 10,000 hours at something it is optimum to be doing it at something you are talented and enjoy.
So the question is, “What activity would you not mind spending 3 hours a day at for the next few years to become world class at?”
And if spending a few years to become world class at something seems a daunting task, more than one person has opined that “Most people over-estimate what they can get done in a day and under-estimate what they can get done in 5 years.”

On Poisoning: Lead vs. The Spike Protein: Both Parallel Each Other In How They Poison Us
We have heard it over and over: The COVID mRNA gene therapies are poison. Many have scoffed at this claim, most notably governing medical agencies. However, when you take the time to look at the mechanisms at work, the claim is not far-fetched – at all. Let’s dive into how lead and the spike protein poison the body in similar ways.

Twelve things to do to save yourself and the world
1. Buy local food from local shops and small farms. Help keep them alive and keep yourself healthier.
2. Don’t own a smart phone or a smart phone. Stay smart and don’t allow the enemy to control your life.
3. Never vote for a political candidate who represents a party. Vote only for independent candidates.
4. Do not buy an electric car. When the grid goes down you are stuck. And they can turn off your car whenever they like. Read “Why I will never buy an electric car” by Colin M Barron. Keep your petrol tank at least half full at all times.
5. Try to have an open fire in your home. It’ll keep you warm and be somewhere to cook. Otherwise have a barbecue.
6. Keep basic home medicines and keep a good supply of any prescription medicines which are essential. Keep a supply of broad spectrum antibiotics from a reliable source. Have a hot water bottle handy – great for soothing a variety of pains.
7. Learn basic first aid. The best first aid book I know is The Ship Captain’s Medical Guide. Get a recent edition. Written for sailors out at sea and away from medical help.
8. Keep a stock of food and water at home. And if possible grow your own veg. You can grow veg in winter in a cold greenhouse.
9. Have a water heater that operates off the cigar lighter in your car. Great for making hot drinks.
10. Don’t ever use QR codes. (I don’t even know how they work but I’ve seen them.)
11. Ignore the siren voices of trolls. They’ll try to confuse and mislead. There are platoons of them on the internet and I’ll bet they are on my substack spreading abuse, lies and sneers. Most are paid by governments or industry. I don’t even look at any of them.
12. Share good information and advice. We will only win this war by educating and recruiting more friends.

Mark Hyman On Food

Three Foods To Avoid

The doctor targets these:
Guar Gum
Carageenan
Natural flavours
and says, “It is important to share this information with individuals you know that have gut issues especially inflammatory bowel disease or Crohn’s disease.”

Tom: The doctor makes the recommendation that you should eat foods “with the fewest ingredients (ideally only 3)…”
This mirrors what Jack LaLanne said: “If man made it, don’t eat it.”
Another said, “Food should not have ingredients. You should only eat ingredients.”
While that is true of manufactured foods from most manufacturers, it does not include mine and I think you should consider mine for several reasons.
1. The basic premise on which I base my products is that of purity, density and diversity.
2. I don’t use chemicals and additives you should avoid.
3. I supply a wider range of ingredients that supply nutrients you won’t get most other places. This nourishes your body far better than you can do yourself or that you can source elsewhere. You don’t have the time, the space, the knowledge or inclination to combine over 300 ingredients to provide balanced nutrition.
4. The process I use is one of combining ingredients rather than processing them.
