Tom, Tom the philatelist's eldest son

Had a musician mate pen me a few lines and leave them with me. I took some literary license and here’s the result:

The year of our Lord, two thousand and eight,
Tom looked much closer at what we all ate.

The reason for starting? Not to have fun!
Tom learned his daughter, had good eating shun.
When served lamb stew, a candy bar she bought,
Eating not of the good things that she ought.
Into his kitchen making and mixing,
Healthy food bars Tom’s aim to be fixing.
It went over well, now Tom’s making lots!
Next to figure out the who’s, where’s and what’s,
Of why a software developer can
Make healthier food than food makers can.
Into the books and blogs he did dive,
Learning what keeps bodies fit and alive.
He researched what makes a body do well,
How to stop disease from giving us hell.
What data to heed, what foods to ingest,
So your mind and body, feel at their best.
He learned too what makes a body feel crook,
The truth was well hidden, he had to LOOK!
He learned as well what makes a mind feel sad,
How to change it too, so you feel real glad!
He told his friends of what he had learned,
Mary said, “Share!” So midnight oil he burned,
Searching and reading, penning his findings,
Compiling them into books – two bindings!
Read his two big books and you’ll be most wise,
He lays out the truth and tells you no lies,
Full of the things that DO count and matter,
Lies told to enslave his books do shatter.

With the data he learned his stock list grew,
Bars, powders, slices, to nourish all you!
Be you very alive or be near dead,
He’s mixed up herbs to boost body and head.
But our Tom leaves out all those things nasty
That leave your body feeling quite ghastly.
With his bars and powders you do ingest
Diverse ingredients – you’ll feel the best.
Although not cheap, (quality makes them best),
He puts in good stuff, left out by the rest.
The range is quite wide from those very mild
To some, say many, “I’d call that quite wild!”
Keep your mind focus as sharp as a tack,
As for low energy, give it a smack.

If you’re copping heat, from a taste bud sweet,
Tom’s got quite a suite, with no added wheat,
For in his wee kitchen Tom also makes,
Chocolates, Slices, mouth watering Cakes.

Your New Year resolutions will come soon,
“Master my mind and be Lord of my spoon.”
End the old year well, start the new better,
Be you in credit, not a health debtor.
Lead with the mind, because that’s where it’s at,
Improve nutrition to lose Christmas fat.
So now this Yuletide, a time of good cheer
Tom’s famous nutrition can be had here:
