The governments of Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand have made the strongest statement yet that they intend to force technology providers to provide lawful access to users’ encrypted communications.

The last paragraph of the article says a mouthful!
“Capabilities to counter foreign interference and disinformation are also to be developed.”

Three points.
1. The governments involved are aguably some of the largest spreaders of disinformation at present time. Think 911, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lybia, Syria etc.
2. Anything against the “government line” has the potential to be labelled disinformation and “disappeard” from the view of ordinary folk.
3. And I am supposed to trust a government that allows fracking near aquifers, the coal mining of farming land, depleted uranium munitions to be fired on our coastal lands in war games and prosecutes whistleblowers?
