If you don’t understand natural cooling, you don’t understand architecture.
\nMost buildings are built the wrong way.
\nFirst we build the shape.
\nThen we add AC to fix it.
\nA glass box in the sun gets hot.
\nLike a greenhouse.
\nSo we fight the heat with power.
\nAll day. Every day.
\nThe power bill never stops.
\nAnd if the power goes out, the building gets too hot to use.
\nThere is a better way.
\nA building can cool itself.
\nNo AC. Just air, water, plants, and the sun.
\nHere is how it works:
\n– Windcatcher: a tower on top. It catches the wind and sends cool air down.
\n– Solar chimney: the sun heats it. It pulls hot air up and out.
\n– Earth tubes: air comes in through the cool ground first. So it starts cool.
\n– Cool water channel: the air passes over water. Now it’s even cooler.
\n– Green roof and green walls: plants shade the building and cool the air.
\nCool air comes in at the bottom.
\nHot air goes out the top.
\nNo machine in the middle.
\nThis is not new.
\nPeople in old Persia did this 700 years ago.
\nThey made desert homes much cooler. With no power at all.
\nWhat is new? Smart sensors and AI.
\nThey watch the wind and the heat.
\nThey open and close each part on their own.
\nOld ideas. New tools.
\nA building that needs power to stay cool is not really designed.
