To matter. To know why you are here.<\/p>\n<p>Laurens van der Post, the man pictured here, spent years among the Bushmen \u2014 listening, learning, and trying to understand what we\u2019ve forgotten in the modern world.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote that the most dangerous thing in life isn\u2019t sadness \u2014 it\u2019s emptiness.<\/p>\n<p>The slow, bitter erosion that comes from living without meaning.<\/p>\n<p>We chase money. Status.
