His hand slowly moved to tear the paper sleeve off his cup. Over and over.<\/p>\n
Peyton watched.<\/p>\n
Didn\u2019t say a word.<\/p>\n
Until the loudest boy leaned over and said:
\n\u201cYou should just shut up if you can\u2019t even finish a sentence.\u201d<\/p>\n
That\u2019s when Peyton stood up.<\/p>\n
Walked over.<\/p>\n
And with calm, measured clarity, looked right at the group and said:<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d pick Daniel for my team every time.<\/p>\n
And not one of you would make the bench.\u201d<\/p>\n
Silence.<\/p>\n
The boys froze.<\/p>\n
One stammered something. Another looked away.<\/p>\n
Daniel just blinked.<\/p>\n
Then\u2026 smiled.<\/p>\n
Peyton turned to him.<\/p>\n
Held out his hand.<\/p>\n

It said:
