Caffeine was ALLEGEDLY \u201cdiscovered\u201d by German chemist Friedrich Ferdinand Runge back in 1819\u2013how did he discover it?<\/p>\n
He took coffee beans and made them into a powder, added boiling water to the powder, and then added chloroform or ether, and potassium hydroxide\u2014after adding all of those, he claimed that the final substance he had was isolated caffeine from the coffee beans.<\/p>\n
He conducted ZERO controls for his experiment\u2014it\u2019s completely pseudoscientific.<\/p>\n
This experiment laid the foundation for all modern \u201ccaffeine\u201d research.<\/p>\n
Now by saying this, I\u2019m not saying that some people don\u2019t get increased energy, or enhanced concentration and focus after consuming coffee. I\u2019m just pointing out the holes in his experiment for allegedly discovering caffeine\u2014effects do not prove a cause!<\/p>\n
