This is the third time the Senate has voted against investigating excess deaths, after rejecting two previous motions last year.<\/p>\n<p>Australia has recorded more deaths than expected in the past several years, with some states experiencing up to 17% excess mortality. This trend is ongoing, with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.abs.gov.au\/statistics\/health\/causes-death\/provisional-mortality-statistics\/latest-release#covid-19-mortality\" rel=\"\">latest reporting<\/a>\u00a0from the ABS estimating 12,377 excess deaths for the first three quarters of 2023, 9.9% above the expected baseline.<\/p>\n<p>Why would the Australian Senate vote AGAINST an investigation into excess deaths in Australia?
