In August 2021, a\u00a0federal court ruled in favor of organizations and petitioners<\/a>\u00a0that sued the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for\u00a0NOT adequately protecting Americans<\/a> from wireless radiation exposure from cell towers and other sources.\u00a0 Despite the ruling, the FCC as well as other government and state agencies and committees continue to\u00a0promote and<\/em>\u00a0fund<\/em>\u00a0the deployment\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0densification of both 5G and 4G cell towers and other infrastructure.\u00a0 Not good, right?<\/p>\n Residents of Pittsfield, Massachusetts have been reporting significant as well as life-threatening health issues ever since a\u00a0Verizon 4G cell tower<\/a>\u00a0was activated near their homes.\u00a0 In October 2021, the\u00a0Board of Health asked Verizon to remove the tower<\/a>\u00a0but the company refused.\u00a0 In February, the BOH voted unanimously to issue the company a\u00a0\u201cCease and Desist\u201d Order<\/a>.\u00a0 Between February and April, several health experts provided supporting testimony to validate residents\u2019 complaints and to ask the state to better protect residents<\/a>.\u00a0 City council members also\u00a0asked state lawmakers to introduce legislation<\/a> to better protect residents.\u00a0 On April 6, the BOH voted to send the order to the company.\u00a0 \u00a0Now Verizon has taken legal action against the city.<\/p>\n
