I counted my years
\nand realized that
\nI have less time to live by,
\nthan I have lived so far.
\nI have more past than future.
\nI feel like that boy who got a bowl of cherries.
\nAt first, he gobbled them,
\nbut when he realized there were only few left,
\nhe began to taste them intensely.
\nI no longer have time to deal with mediocrity.
\nI do not want to be in meetings where flamed egos parade.
\nI am bothered by the envious,
\nwho seek to discredit the most able,
\nto usurp their places, coveting their seats,
\ntalent, achievements and luck.
\nI do not have time for endless conversations,
\nuseless to discuss about the lives of others
\nwho are not part of mine.
\nI no longer have the time to manage
\nsensitivities of people who despite their chronological age, are immature.
\nI hate to confront those that struggle for power,
\nthose that \u2018do not debate content, just the labels\u2019.
\nMy time has become scarce to debate labels,
\nI want the essence.
\nMy soul is in a hurry \u2026
\nNot many cherries in my bowl,
\nI want to live close to human people, very human,
\nwho laugh of their own stumbles,
\nand away from those turned smug
\nand overconfident with their triumphs,
\naway from those filled with self-importance.
\nThe essential is what makes life worthwhile.
\nAnd for me, the essentials are enough!
\nYes, I\u2019m in a hurry.
\nI\u2019m in a hurry to live with the intensity that only maturity can give.
\nI do not intend to waste any of the remaining cherries.
\nI am sure they will be exquisite, much more than those eaten so far.
\nMy goal is to reach the end satisfied
\nand at peace with my loved ones and my conscience.
