Political talk show host Kim Iversen, on a\u00a0segment<\/a>\u00a0of the Kim Iversen Show Wednesday, called the latest\u00a0COVID<\/a>\u00a0data coming out of Israel \u201calarming and shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n Iversen reminded viewers that Israel was nearly fully vaccinated by February, after striking a deal with\u00a0Pfizer<\/a>\u00a0to make its citizens \u201cessentially \u2026 a giant study group.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey have very high vaccination rates in the country,\u201d Iversen said. \u201cKids are still not vaccinated. There are some super ultra-Orthodox holdouts, but otherwise everybody in Israel banded together and they took the Pfizer vaccine \u2014 two doses.\u201d<\/p>\n But by summer, Iversen said, Israel health officials determined the vaccine had worn off. \u201cThey saw skyrocketing numbers of cases, even after they\u2019d hit this so-called\u00a0herd immunity<\/a>\u00a0threshold of 70%.\u201d<\/p>\n At first, Iversen said, it looked as though the vaccines might at least be protecting against more severe symptoms, because for the most part, only the unvaccinated were having to be hospitalized.<\/p>\n \u201cBut then as time went on \u2026 the hospitals started to fill up with fully vaccinated people,\u201d Iversen said, \u201cand they saw more and more cases among the fully vaccinated, and more and more of them becoming very severe to the point where the majority of their cases in the hospitals and in the ICU and those dying were fully vaccinated people.\u201d<\/p>\n Iversen has been tracking data in multiple countries besides Israel, including Iceland, Chile, Seychelles, Uruguay and others.<\/p>\n \u201cI have a whole list of countries that I\u2019ve been monitoring on this,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd it was really clear early on that the vaccine was not stopping the spread, but it did seem to keep people out of the hospital for a period of time.\u201d<\/p>\n But then Israel found the vaccine was wearing off \u2014 so they told everybody they would need a third,\u00a0booster shot<\/a>, \u201cin order to participate in society,\u201d Iversen said.<\/p>\n That seemed to work for awhile \u2014 but now cases are rising again.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know what to make of that, \u201cIversen said. \u201cAnd I\u2019m not going to speculate. I\u2019m just going to share the data and I\u2019m going to keep watching that data. And we\u2019re going to see what happens. I mean, at this point, that\u2019s all we can do. All we can do is see what happens now.\u201d<\/p>\n
