But while the government has recommended that Hume Coal\u2019s project in the Southern Highlands should be refused, the final decision rests with the IPC. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

There is extensive and long-standing opposition to the project from the local and broader community and the Council<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

It\u2019s clear the agricultural land and heritage values of the site means it is not suitable for a greenfield coal mine and is not in the public interest <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
