As part of the 12000 year catastrophe cycle, the sun has a high probability of producing a Micronova that will wipe out all electronic devices. A small version of this happened in 1859 during the carington event that melted telegraph wires and shocked operators. Last night&#8217;s CME won&#8217;t effect much, but the weakening magnetosphere will allow more and more interaction between the sun and earth.
