Hear Earth, she is crying,
\nIn her pain she is lying,<\/p>\n
To make profits we haste,
\nLeaving her burdened by waste,<\/p>\n
Destroyed, pillaged and plundered,
\nMany lands torn asunder.<\/p>\n
Her beauty we admire,
\nBut to plunder we conspire,<\/p>\n
We overuse and replenish not,
\nTill the land, it grows not,<\/p>\n
If we take more than we give,
\nHow will our granchilren live?<\/p>\n
The problem is really not carbon,
\nIt is pollution in the garden,<\/p>\n
For us plastic’s fantastic,
\nBut for fish it’s now drastic,<\/p>\n
Coporate greed might have won first place,
\nBut it destroyed Earth in the race.<\/p>\n
Psyche and street drugs first dull men’s senses,
\nExcreted, mash fauna’s defenses,<\/p>\n
I fear big pharma have gambled,
\nWhen fish DNA becomes scrambled,<\/p>\n
To forsee disaster from their profit,
\nYou do not need to be a new prophet.<\/p>\n
We eat what is promoted,
\nToo much till we’re bloated,<\/p>\n
Our waistlines are growing,
\nOur lifespan is slowing,<\/p>\n
The more artificial the food,
\nThe gloomier becomes our mood.<\/p>\n
The authorities in whom we trust,
\nBe severely corrected they must,<\/p>\n
Else our trajectory is plotted,
\nUntil in our graves we are slotted,<\/p>\n
We must rise above our disinterest,
\nTo overcome greed, vested interest.<\/p>\n
So let us vote with our spending,
\nInsanity to be ending,<\/p>\n
We need to clean up our collective act,
\nTo make “Earth – a salvaged planet” a fact,<\/p>\n
We need to set an example to our friends,
\nOur mind, body and earth we do need to mend.<\/p>\n
