The Amazon forest has been called “the lungs of the world”. We need to protect our lungs! This just in from Amazon Watch…

"If things are going to change, we are going to need help. So we are asking that international consumers boycott Brazilian agribusiness products until the Brazilian government definitively addresses the question of indigenous land demarcations and acts of violence against indigenous peoples. We want peace, so that our peoples can live a just and dignified life!"
– Sonia Guajajara

We recently accompanied our indigenous partners from the Amazon to the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York to deliver the urgent message that if we are to protect Mother Earth, we must respect indigenous rights and traditional knowledge.

Amazon Watch remains steadfast in our efforts to resist the increasing threats against indigenous people driven by right-wing regimes and profit-driven institutions. There is a two minute vide3o at this site: https://amazonwatch.org/donate

In response to calls for support from Brazilian indigenous organizations, we released Complicity in Destruction II, a ground-breaking report exposing the major drivers and financiers of Amazon destruction, including Barclays, JPMorgan Chase, and leading U.S. asset managers BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street.

We are challenging European and North American financiers and commodities buyers to cut ties with producers of high-risk commodities (soy, cattle, and timber) causing social conflict and Amazon destruction.

In order to expand this new international campaign to hold government and corporations accountable, we need your financial support. Please join us in solidarity with indigenous peoples by donating now! https://amazonwatch.org/donate

No More War – Keep The Peace!

Tom, did you see Jon’s email about stopping a war with Iran?
When he sent it two weeks ago, tensions with Iran were higher than they’ve been since the Bush era, and two weeks later, that’s where they remain. Since that email, U.S. officials have said that it is “highly likely” that Iran was behind the recent sabotage of Saudi oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, Trump took to Twitter to threaten Iran with war, warning of Iran’s “official end” if it wants to fight, and hawks in Congress like Lindsey Graham have taken their Iran war mongering to new heights.
It’s up to us to make sure Trump can’t wage war with Iran without congressional approval, as he’s done in Syria and Yemen. It’s up to us to make sure Congress never authorizes such a war. Please, write your members of Congress today and ask them to support the Prevention of Unconstitutional War with Iran Act to stop another disastrous war in the Middle East. https://secure.everyaction.com/qjdo8ppkc0C36Oj87f-CDQ2
For peace,Jeff

How antidepressants ruin your natural serotonin so you can never be happy again … without your pills

The use of antidepressants has skyrocketed in recent years, despite a growing consensus that these drugs are dangerous and often ineffective in treating the conditions for which they are prescribed. (This type of article hits directly at big pHarma’s profit line so is why sites like Natural News and GreenMedInfo are censored.)

Tanker attack was imaginary, but US says Iran did it

saudi-oil-tanker

These network stories are examples of fake news at its most dangerous, when it plays into the dishonest manipulations of an administration beating the drums for a war against Iran that has no reasonable basis. Not only do the networks and mainstream media generally fail to question the administration’s rush to war, they also fail to do basic journalism by independently confirming whether a particular story is true or not.
