Your vote for a healthier future

This weekend Victorians will go to the polls to decide their parliament for the next four years. This state election, to be held on Saturday November 24, presents a real opportunity to elect the Health Australia Party (HAP) into the Victorian parliament.

Healthier communities

HAP wants to ‘build a health-creation system, not a disease-management system’. Currently, 1 in every 2 Australians have at least one prominent chronic condition such as arthritis, asthma, back pain, cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes or a mental health disorder. HAP believes it is time for a healthier Australia. Two out of three Australians use complementary medicine and this valued access to natural therapies is now under threat. A vote for the Health Australia Party means support for the future of alternative therapies.

HAP supports the rights of women to choose their lead maternity care provider and to be eligible for free maternity care regardless of where they choose to birth, including those who wish to birth at home.

If elected, the Health Australia Party (HAP) will call for the immediate legalisation of Australian grown, non-GMO, pesticide-free and organically produced cannabis for medicinal purposes and for the cessation of water fluoridation believing that sodium fluoride is a toxic chemical waste products and should not be placed into public water supplies.

HAP and Vaccination

HAP supports informed consent and insists that this consent to a medical procedure such as vaccination must be given voluntarily and not subject to ‘undue pressure, coercion or manipulation’.

“Valid consent can be defined as the voluntary agreement by an individual to a proposed procedure, given after sufficient, appropriate and reliable information about the procedure, including the potential risks and benefits, has been conveyed to that individual”.

It is for this reason that the Health Australia Party opposes the No Jab, No Play and No Jab, No Pay laws which financially penalise parents and deny their children access to early education and care services. Their objection is in line with those held by the Victorian Council for Civil Liberties, the Victorian Law Institute, the Royal Australian College of Physicians, many doctors and health practitioners, and social justice and healthcare organisations.

HAP states that although the US judicial system and the World Health Organisation admits that there is ‘no such thing’ as an entirely safe and effective vaccine the Victorian health minister states ‘there are no risks in vaccinating’. HAP adds that it has no intention to restrict access to vaccination for any individuals but supports freedom of choice in healthcare.
